Description
This Hallway is part of the Seperate Prison at Port Arthur. When the prison was in 1849, new ideas about prisons and the reforming of criminals were in vogue and it ws thought that physical punishment only hardened the man while a quiet and ordered atmosphere may help in the reform of the man.
